Terrace invest in Ultra Fast Fibre & WIFI for post Covid reopening
During COVID, Terrace upgraded to a fully managed gigabit network with seamless Wi-Fi across customer and service areas. App-based ordering, POS, payments, and guest Wi-Fi ran reliably, monitored remotely to prevent downtime. The investment enabled safe reopening, removed operational risk during peak periods, and delivered a future-ready digital foundation that now attracts a highly connected customer base.

The Problem
The COVID-19 pandemic brought the hospitality industry to a standstill. Terrace closed in March 2020, along with bars, pubs, and restaurants across the UK and beyond, facing unprecedented uncertainty about the future.
As reopening discussions began, it became clear that new legal and operational requirements would make technology essential. Track and trace, contactless ordering, and reduced physical interaction were no longer optional, and existing infrastructure was not equipped to support these changes.
The Solution
A technology-led approach to reopening
True to the Mancunian spirit, Terrace used the closure period to invest heavily in preparing for a safe and successful reopening. The venue was reconfigured with socially distanced tables, space dividers, and previously unused areas repurposed to maximize capacity.
Alongside these physical changes, OneTek delivered a fully managed network with comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage throughout the building. A direct connection to OneTek’s Northern Quarter Fibre provided gigabit-speed internet, forming a reliable foundation for modern hospitality operations.
With this infrastructure in place, Terrace implemented contactless table ordering through mobile apps, installed new tills to receive orders, and offered guests free, ultra-fast Wi-Fi that outperformed many home broadband connections.
The End Result
A smooth reopening with technology working seamlessly in the background
When Terrace reopened, the new systems enabled effective track and trace while allowing customers to enjoy safe, contactless table service. Thanks to careful preparation, the transition to new working practices was smooth and minimally disruptive.
Remote network management means devices can now be monitored and issues resolved quickly without impacting service. Where staff previously had to battle connectivity problems, they can now focus entirely on delivering a great customer experience.
The Future for Terrace
Every advantage matters in hospitality recovery
Recovery to pre-COVID levels will take time, and in hospitality, every competitive edge counts. By investing wisely during lockdown, Terrace has not only adapted to change but emerged stronger.
As customers return with higher expectations for connectivity and digital convenience, Terrace stands out with some of the fastest free Wi-Fi available. This has helped position the venue as an attractive destination for a highly connected, tech-savvy customer base, supporting long-term growth in a rapidly evolving industry.
