GleeFI Ultra Fast Fiber Broadband & WIFI
Ahead of Pride 2018, OneTek deployed GleeFI, a district-wide fibre and public Wi-Fi network. With 900+ Mbps broadband and 600+ Mbps Wi-Fi, it kept payments live during peak demand when mobile networks failed. Described by Manchester Evening News as the “Fastest Wi-Fi in Europe,” GleeFI became a blueprint for smart city connectivity.
The Problem
During Manchester Pride, businesses in the Gay Village faced serious disruption due to poor internet connectivity. Critical card payment systems failed, relying on broadband and Wi-Fi that simply could not cope with demand.
Mobile data offered no fallback. With thousands of devices concentrated in a small area, 4G networks became unusable, leaving businesses unable to trade at peak times.
The Solution
A purpose-built fibre and Wi-Fi network for the entire Village
With existing providers unable to offer a solution, OneTek designed and deployed a dedicated fibre network across the Gay Village, supported by a powerful, street-wide Wi-Fi infrastructure.
Delivered just in time for Pride 2018, the GleeFI network connected thousands of visitors to ultra-fast Wi-Fi while ensuring local businesses could operate without interruption. Most importantly, payment systems remained fully functional throughout the event.

The project demonstrated how intelligently designed infrastructure can transform a community. GleeFI delivered fibre broadband speeds exceeding 900 Mbps and Wi-Fi performance so strong it was described by the Manchester Evening News as the “Fastest Wi-Fi in Europe.”
